Erm. Karan Johar Says Alia Bhatt Has Big Problems!

Alia Bhatt is really Karan Johar‘s Student Of The Year. The mentor and student recently took on their brand new roles as content curators for Colors Infinity – the newly announced English entertainment channel. But we hear, the two did not unanimously agree on every show that they wanted to put on the channel.

KJo said:

“Alia’s problems are never tiny, they are always large. Tiny Alia calls me for many of her large problems.”

Aww. Talking about her mentor, Alia said:

“Working with Karan is amazing, just being around him is amazing. Because we have such an amazing relationship, which just comes across whether we’re in front of the camera or behind the camera. So we just are ourselves.”

Karan added:

“Alia is like a child, she’s like my child. She’s not only somebody I launched in cinema, but I feel deeply connected to. So I think we have a general kind of chemistry that I think even lovers may not have. We have a lot of mutual love and that love kindof transfers itself automatically whether you put the camera on or whether you leave it off.”

We can’t wait to watch what these two have curated for us!

Should Karan Johar be blamed for Fawad Khan not signing films?

While some believe that scripts are the reason behind Fawad rejecting a bunch of movies but BollywoodLife tells you EXCLUSIVELY why the Pakistani heart-throb is actually not signing films…

Fawad Khan quickly became a heart-throb for millions post his Bollywood debut opposite Sonam Kapoor in Khoobsurat. News of him signing his second film Battle for Bittora opposite Sonam again, quickly started doing the rounds after Khoobsurat’s successful Box office run. Fawad was suddenly the Khan in demand as he was flooded with film offers. But then the news of him abruptly walking out of Battle for Bittora caught on.

Post that, Fawad Khan has rejected a ton of movies. He refused to sign a Sohail Khan film citing script issues, he also declined Ramesh Taurani’s offer to star in his daughter Sneha’s directorial debut and the only film Fawad has in hand right now is Kapoor and Sons.

From difference of opinion on scripts to an alleged ‘no kissing’ policy, many reasons have been cited so far for Fawad rejecting a host of films but BollywoodLife has EXCLUSIVELY learnt that Karan Johar is the actual reason.

We hear that the director has started mentoring Fawad Khan and he has roped him in for Kapoor and Sons and another Dharma film which would star Kangana Ranaut and Fawad in the lead roles (the official announcement is yet to be made.)

A source also confirms that it was KJo who advised Fawad to bow out of Battle for Bittora as the filmmaker thought that the movie won’t do Fawad’s blooming career any good. Apparently, Fawad is treading cautiously because he doesn’t want his Bollywood career to meet the same fate as some of his peers. So, he is taking all the necessary advice from the celebrated director and has willingly stepped under his wing. We wonder if Fawad’s loyalty to Karan will make him miss out on some plum projects!

Do you think Karan should hold the reigns of Fawad’s career decisions in his hands? Sound off your opinions in the comments section!

Saif Ali Khan: Anybody would be lucky to have Katrina as a girlfriend or fiancee

Saif Ali Khan, who will again be seen onscreen with Katrina Kaif in Phantom, said he is very fond of his co-star and that any person would be lucky to have her as a girlfriend, fiancee or more.

“I think Katrina is one of the most lovely girls I’ve worked with. And anybody would be lucky to have her as girlfriend, fiancee or in the future something more,” he told reporters at the trailer launch of their upcoming action film Phantom. Saif, who also featured with Katrina in the 2008 film Race, termed her as, “One of the most beautiful and biggest stars in Bollywood.”

“I’ve known Katrina for a while. I’ve watched her from being a relatively new actor in Race to becoming one of the biggest stars in the country, working very hard and becoming an amazing personality on screen. It’s always nice to spend time with her. She is extremely relaxed and is someone who I’ve enjoyed talking to and working with. I think we had an easy equation, ” he said.

Saif is returning to the silver screen two years after Bullet Raja and according to him, it is a dream situation to feature in a film like Phantom. “I love this kind of movies. To get a chance to work with Kabir and having Sajid as a producer has given me a dream situation,” added the 44-year-old actor.

Directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Phantom is based on the theme of terrorism. The film has incorporated 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed’s original speech in the trailer of Phantom. Apart from Saif and Katrina, the film also stars stars popular Bengali actor Sabyasachi Chakrabarty and Zeeshan Ayyub. The film is slated to release on August 28.

Masaan: Stars have their own baggage, my shoots passed off uninterrupted, says Neeraj Ghaywan

Neeraj Ghaywan, whose debut film Masaan released in India on July 24, said that he deliberately roped in newcomers as they gelled well with the film’s fresh and realistic feel. “I wanted my characters to be like real life. Stars have their own baggage, it is not always easy to make them discard their mannerisms. My shoots passed off uninterrupted without any actor being mobbed at any public place,” Neeraj, who had assisted Anurag Kashyap in Gangs of Wasseypur, told PTI.

“As a result, we could do away with any type of hierarchy on the sets, and I wanted everyone to feel that all of us were equally behind the film’s making. It’s a team work,” he added. Richa Chadha, who featured in Gangs of Wasseypur, is also one of the actors of Masaan. Neeraj recalled how she broke down during the audience adulation after the film’s screening at Cannes this year.
“There was a five-minute long standing ovation by the critics and reviewers. It was overwhelming for all of us because none of the cast and the crew, mostly for those who made their debut in this film expected such a response. Getting the official selection itself was a huge honour,” Neeraj said.
The film has won the acclaimed FIPRESCI, Promising Future awards at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival and the Sundance Global Filmmaker Award. Besides Richa Chadha, the film stars Vicky Kaushal, Sanjay Mishra and Shweta Tripathi.

Anushka Sharma gets APJ Abdul Kalam’s name wrong in tribute, not once but twice

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma on Tuesday (July 28) came into focus on social media when she got the spellings of former president APJ Abdul Kalam wrong while expressing condolences on his demise.

APJ Abdul Kalam died on Monday (July 27) after suffering cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture at a management school in Shillong. Anushka Sharma spelt late president Kalam’s name incorrectly with a post on Twitter that read: “Very sad to hear about the passing of ABJ Kalam Azad. Loss of an inspiring visionary and a wonderful soul. May his soul RIP.” Here is a print screen of Anushka’s tweet, which she immediately deleted:

However, she realised her mistake soon and tried to rectify it, but in vain. She got the name wrong again. She wrote: “Very sad to hear about the passing of APJ Kalam Azad. Loss of an inspiring visionary and a wonderful soul. May his soul RIP.”

Saif and Katrina in Phantom trailer: A heady mix of action and patriotism

After achieving success at the box office with his last release Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kabir Khan is now all set with his upcoming film Phantom, starring Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. The trailer of the film was released a while back, and the cast and crew launched the same at an event in Mumbai on Saturday afternoon.

In the trailer of Phantom, Saif and Katrina are seen in rough-and-tough avatars with an unrest-torn backdrop. Saif’s character in the film has only one goal to achieve: Taking on the mastermind of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The trailer poses a question, too. Saif says, “If America can get justice by killing Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan, why can’t India do the same?”

The film has incorporated 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed’s original speech in the trailer of Phantom. Saeed is seen saying, “Kya tumne yeh saabit kar diya ki Mumbai hamla Hafiz Saeed ne kiya tha?” Hafiz Saeed is the leader of Jamaat-ud-Dawa, a political party in Pakistan. He is said to be the man behind the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and the 13/12 Parliament attacks.

The film has been extensively shot in Beirut, Lebanon. Apart from Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif, Phantom also stars popular Bengali actor Sabyasachi Chakrabarty and Zeeshan Ayyub. Right after its release, the trailer of Phantom has attracted much comparison with earlier espionage thrillers like Baby, which released in January this year, and the 2013 D-Day

Salman wants an intense romance?

Bajrangi Bhaijaan has sent the whole country into a tizzy as the film has touched everyone’s heart. After a lot of action films under his belt, Salman Khan plays a messiah to a little Pakistani girl, Shaheeda, in this film. Shaheeda is lost in India and Salman (Pavan Kumar Chaturvedi in the film) makes it a point to reunite the girl to her house in Pakistan. The journey shows the divide between both the countries and how it is much more easy to go to America than Pakistan.

When we recently asked Salman Khan which genre he wants to do next, he said, “I want to do a intense romantic film, I have not done one in a few years now.” He also joked, “I want to have an intense romance onscreen as well as one off-screen (laughs).”

So while Salman Khan prepares for Prem Ratna Dhan Payo’s release and Sultan’s shoot, we guess he will also be juggling between scripts that feature an intense romantic story-line, while also finding a romantic connection with someone off-screen. In the meanwhile, Bajrangi Bhaijaan has minted about Rs. 197.77 crore in 8 days and is set to touch the 200-crore mark today.

Ahalya: Only inspiration for the film is Ahalya, says Sujoy Ghosh

Director Sujoy Ghosh’s short film Ahalya has been lauded by many, but there are accusations of similarities between the film and other works.

Ahalya, director Sujoy Ghosh’s short film that has been lauded by numerous people on the internet, has attracted some comparisons with other famous works. One among them is the similarities between Ahalya and author Roald Dahl’s short story The Landlady.

However, Ghosh says that his latest short film is not inspired by Dahl’s story. Set in contemporary Kolkata, the 14-minute Ahalya is a thriller, a feminist take on the story of Ahalya from the Ramayana, where the fate of an apsara, a mahirishi and rain god Indra is sealed by a curse.

In Indian mythology, Ahalya is known as the most beautiful woman in the world. She was cursed by her husband, an old sage called Gautama, for infidelity. In this short film, Radhika Apte plays the role of Ahalya, the beautiful wife of a much older artist played by Soumitra Chatterjee. Earlier, the film was said to have been inspired by a Spanish film Alma. And now it’s Roald Dahl’s story.

“My film, as is evident, is an age old myth, slightly adult in nature, adapted with a feminist twist. I am, however, flattered over the comparisons with Dahl’s work – he is of course, one of the greatest children’s authors of the 20th century,” Ghosh tweeted on July 24. He also said:Ahalya features Soumitra Chatterjee, Radhika Apte and Tota Roy Chowdhury in the lead roles. The short film was released on July 20.

Katrina Kaif: Not yet engaged, there is time for marriage

Since the time Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor started dating, the rumours about their impending engagement has been doing the rounds. But the actor has rubbished the reports saying that she is not engaged to Ranbir Kapoor. Moreover, she has no plans of getting married anytime soon.

“I’m glad you asked that but I’m definitely not engaged. I know you guys are so sweet and you seem to want me to get married but there are no such plans now. So please bear with me being not married for some more time,” said Katrina, who was making a public appearance after a long time at the trailer launch of Phantom. She was responding to queries about if she had got engaged.

All engagement rumours were sparked on the occasion of Katrina’s birthday on July 16 when reportedly she and Ranbir had set off to Alibaug to celebrate, and it was there that Ranbir proposed to her and gifted her a platinum and diamond eternity band. But Katrina put a rest to all the rumours recently. The two have been tight-lipped about their relationship all along, but it was only after the two moved in together that they have begun easing their stand on their relationship.

Ranbir and Katrina are said to have got close during shooting of their romantic comedy, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani in 2009. The two recently returned to Mumbai post their London vacation.
On the work front, Katrina will be next seen in Kabir Khan’s spy thriller Phantom, while Ranbir is busy with Jagga Jasoos and Tamasha.
