Alia Bhatt Opens Up On Her Marriage Plans

Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt has an enviable career graph. She began working at the ripe age of 18 and has since then delivered a string of hits, making her one of the most bankable stars we have today. Her recent film Badrinath Ki Dulhania had her play a bride-to-be and spoke about the topic of marriages in India. In a recent interview with India Today, she was asked about what her plans for marriage are, to which she said,

I do want to settle down early  because I have an advantage of having started off (my career) very early. That way, I can get done with it and continue. Also, I don’t want to settle down too late in life because that also has its own issues. But honestly, I’m not thinking about it or planning as of now.”

When asked about the notion that actress’ have a shelf life, she added,

Earlier, we used to say that an actresses’ shelf life lasts only until she gets married. But I don’t think that’s true anymore. That has completely changed, especially with the way Bebo has gone about her marriage and even her pregnancy. Even after getting married, she did really well in a few tough films. And now, although she delivered a baby a few months back, she is readying to get back to shooting. I think that’s the way it should be for an actor. You shouldn’t stop acting just because you settle down, and I also don’t plan to go that way.”

There you have it straight from the horse’s mouth!

“It Is Not Meant To Be” – Arbaaz Khan On His Marriage With Malaika Arora

Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan

Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan

Arbaaz Khan and his wife Malaika Arora Khan separated almost about three years ago, and since then, there have been rumours of a possible reconciliation. While Arbaaz came forth and opened up about dating a Romanian girl, Malaika has maintained her silence. DNA asked him if they plan to ever get back together and here’s what he said.

I feel, if we had to get more time, we would have got back by now. The fact that we haven’t, means it is not meant to be. I wouldn’t want to speak for her. I kept my option open despite us parting ways, and I gave it a little time, whether it was a year or two years before I moved on in certain ways. Even as far as dating somebody is concerned. So I guess if that was to happen it would have happened in the first six months, or one year. It didn’t and it’s been almost three years now.”

He also opened up on how his son dealt with it.

He is quite smart. He turns 15 this year. He is a great boy. In fact, in the years that we have been apart, my son has focused on his studies, on his health, athletics and whatever else he is doing. Which is very credible because he could have very well used our separation as an excuse and said, ‘I don’t feel like studying’ or got into bad company. My son has excelled in everything. We have realised that he knew that there was a situation in the family and he put his focus into his activities and full credit to him. There is a parenting that still happens and we are more careful with him. He has got into great hobbies, has started doing card tricks, he learned them on YouTube. He is very good at cards and some tricks have taken him eight months to master. That is very impressive.”

Props for dealing with this so well.

Confirmed! Raju Shrivastav replaces Sunil Grover on The Kapil Sharma Show

Raju Shrivastav

Raju Shrivastav

Don’t be surprised if you see Raju Shrivastav once again on The Kapil Sharma Show because it is confirmed that he is a part of it! After the whole Kapil Sharma – Sunil Grover debacle, the makers started scouting for new names to be associated with the show. The public fight of the two comedians has resulted in Grover quitting the show. And ever since then, a lot of folks from the industry have tried to tag their names with the show. Earlier it was Krushna Abhishek, who pushed aside all the cold war rumours and extended his support in this Kapil – Sunil tussle. However, it is Raju, the former Great Indian Laughter Challenge contestant, who has bagged a place in the show! He confirmed to NDTV that the dotted lines have been signed and that he will be in the show. “Yes, I have started shooting for this show. The channel and the team are happy with the episodes I have shot for them and have called me for more episodes,” he said.

Of course, he’s not going to take Sunil’s role as Dr Mashoor Gulati but he will be essaying an all new character. “I don’t know how the channel is going to represent my character or my acts to the audience. But this is true that I’m shooting for the show and will feature in the show as a ‘new entry’,” he added. Now Grover has already denied being a part of the show anytime soon. And looks like now the channel has found a replacement for him.

It all started when Kapil invited his Great Indian Laughter Challenge buddies to come as guests on his show right after the fight broke out. Shrivastav, Ahsaan Qureshi and Sunil Pal came to the show as guests. The old tricks of them trying to woo the audience and make them laugh failed as it seemed too stretched. But Raju begs to differ. He had all good words to speak for the show as well as his experience there. “I had a good time on the show. It was like a mini reunion. I am a comedian and like to make people laugh. I just need a stage. If they call me, I will surely go back.”

We have already seen a glimpse of what it would be like if the comedian signs the dotted lines for The Kapil Sharma show. But wasn’t Raju supposed to patch things up between Kapil and Sunil? He even had plans to make both the comedians sit together, sort their differences out, right? What happened to all that thinking? He answered that too as he said, “I was hopeful of bringing them together last week, but Sunil is out of town. I am waiting for him to return.” Well, with the latest tweet by Grover, it is pretty evident that he doesn’t wish to reconcile anytime sooner.

Karan Johar has been advised to keep his social life low key, for Yash and Roohi

Karan Johar

Karan Johar

Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra may have already headed to Karan Johar’s place to meet his newborns, Yash and Roohi. But they’ll still have to wait for at least a month before they’re allowed to play with the kids. Turns out, the filmmaker has been advised to not allow many visitors to meet his babies. The reason is pretty obvious, they’re still susceptible to infections. His twins were prematurely born and spent seven weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Although the reports on their growth has been very positive, the doctors have still asked Johar to be extra careful. You see, kids are more likely to attract infections and virus. Hence, to avoid any complication, the doctors suggested him to not allow visitors, just yet. A special crib has been designed for the babies with nets so that they’re protected from the bad air.

KJo’s kids, Yash and Roohi have shown tremendous growth. Dr Bhupendra Awasthi, who has been monitoring the kids’ health stated that the weight of the kids has nearly double in the last 51 days. “They were two and half months premature and weighed less than 1.5 kgs. In the last 51 days, their weight has nearly doubled,” said the doctor to Mid-day. He further added that the filmmaker might have to keep his social life low key and especially maintain less number of people around his kids to avoid infections.

“Normally, babies have low immunity and in case of premature births, extra precaution is mandatory. Regular follow-up (check-up) us of utmost importance, so that we can monitor their growth. Deficiencies that they had during birth also need to be checked. We have fixed dates to conduct tests and ascertain their health. He (Karan) needs to keep a tab on number of guests he receives; the babies are susceptible to infection,” said the doctor.

Awasthi also spoke about what a splendid father Karan is as he has constantly been visiting the hospital to see his babies’ growth. He said, “Karan is emotionally attached to the babies and is sincere as a father. He’d regularly come to come on them (when they were in the NICU). I am sure he will be able to look after them really well by himself.” Well, that is something very believable, you know. The filmmaker has always been extra pampering and sweet when it comes to people he values a lot. Quite a few close buddies have visited the actor last night but looks like they’ll still have to wait for atleast a month before they’re allowed to play with Yash and Roohi.

That makes us wonder how much time we’ll have to wait before we get to see the twins! When’s it going to be KJo?

Ranbir Kapoor Will Not Be Making Any Public Appearances Anymore

Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir Kapoor

If reports are to be believed, Ranbir Kapoor won’t be seen a making public appearance anytime soon. It seems he’s been strictly asked to stay away from the shutterbugs. Ace director Rajkumar Hirani is known to be very particular about his film’s details not being leaked before the release. I remember when PK was being shot in Rajasthan, I had asked one of my friends from the sets to share some fun behind-the-scenes stories with me. And he had promptly refused to give out any information from the sets even off the record. Raju Hirani didn’t want anyone to know the plot of the movie and hence, the cast and crew had been instructed not to divulge anything.

And now that Hirani is busy helming the Sanjay Dutt biopic, he wants to make sure that no one gets to know any detail about this film. Naturally, he was quite disappointed when a photo of Ranbir’s beefed up look from the movie had been leaked online. And therefore, RK Jr., who’ll be apparently sporting 6 different looks in this one, has been asked to keep a low profile. So we won’t be getting to see his gorgeous face at any event anytime soon. Uh oh.

20 Times Kangana Ranaut Was Fierce AF & Gave You Major Life Lessons

Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut is known to speak her mind – we all know that! While one may not always agree with her opinion, one cannot deny that Kangana almost always makes sense. Her sense of righteousness comes from too many instances of being in unlikely circumstances and dealing with them with incredible determination. She may be called a “rebel” or “bold” for being opinionated – but can we just take a moment to acknowledge that she is ruthlessly honest?!

Therefore, it’s not surprising that she takes on controversies with a headstrong attitude, and is never afraid of facing the consequences. Not surprising that her statements, more often than not, become headlines!

On her 30th birthday, let’s do a quick recap of 20 times the lady was fabulous and taught you a thing or two about life:

1. Revenge is a dish best served cold

Success is the best revenge. I always feel women should answer back either with their sarcasm or success.”

2. Read that twice!

Freedom of being alone is intoxicating”.

3. This extremely sorted take on female empowerment

Women empowerment does not mean you create complex among men. Then it will take 20 more years to empower men. It is all about evolving as a soul, as a human being. It does not mean that you become a sexist.”

4. Food for thought!

I don’t know why everyone feels the pressure to look young. Personally, I hate it. I don’t want to inject Botox and look young forever. It’s living in denial and anything that has an undercurrent of this philosophy is bad for your growth.”

5. Knowledge is an asset

My biggest asset is that I know how to learn, and that, I believe, will help me in the long run.”

6. Lesson numero uno, always!

I followed my instincts; I followed my intuition, and it paid off.”

7. *Slow clap*

Why should Bollywood accept me? I should accept Bollywood. I don’t care if Bollywood has accepted me. I don’t seek acceptance. I don’t need to live up to anybody’s expectations.”

8. Note that down, and read it when you feel low

It’s very hard for me to find any sort of shame or blame in my life. I’m not made that way.”

9. Never adhered to social stereotypes

I don’t seek validation outside, not even with the audience. Today they like me, but tomorrow they may hate me. I don’t want to be anybody’s role model.”

10. Take that!

I am not ashamed of anything – not my past, not my affairs, not my body, and most definitely not my desire.”

11. On taking rejection in your stride

I think the rejection – if it’s taken in the right spirit, it can make you a better person. And I think that is what I’ve always striven for. If one thing didn’t work out, a project or anything, it doesn’t mean that I lose my own confidence. In fact, I give myself a lot more confidence and opportunities.”

12. WORD

Nobody was my support. You have to support yourself, and I think that is the beauty of being a woman. You can handle anything and be ten times better than men.”

13. Glorifying and pedestalizing women is NOT cool!

The glorification of sisters, mothers as the selfless Indian women who will do ‘agni pariksha’ and the one who sees her own betterment only in the betterment of their husbands and fathers, that has to stop. It’s very regressive.”

14. Fairness… STFU!

Ever since I was a kid, I have never understood the concept of fairness. Especially, in such a case, as a celebrity, what kind of an example would I be setting for younger people? I have no regrets about turning this offer down. As a public figure, I have responsibilities.”

15. On the gender wage gap in Bollywood

I am complaining too. There was a point when my complaint wasn’t rational and yet, I felt that way even earlier. But the data wasn’t supporting me. ‘Queen’ did make money, about Rs 100 cr, but still I wasn’t sure how much money could I ask for after that. Also, giving a 250 cr money is a different thing altogether. My getting Rs 11 cr is a small step towards that equality you are talking about, and as a woman I would also want to see…to be treated as an equal.”

16. That’s a lesson right here – deal with rejection!

When I started out, I was treated like a dog. People in the industry treated me like I didn’t deserve to be spoken to and I was some unwanted object. I couldn’t speak English fluently and people made fun of me for that. So dealing with rejection became a part of life.”

17. Marriage is not the end of the road for women

I think the focus has to shift at some point from marriage to the real challenges of life, which are the same for girls and guys. We have to prepare our girls like superheroes, like we prepare our men, and not have a ready set up to be given to another man like a fully trained dog to take care of their house.”

18. Keep hustling

We have to earn our bread and butter and sometimes we have limited options. As somebody who is self dependent and doesn’t really have any other job, I have to keep working, and doing something or the other.”

19. On the discrepancies in Bollywood

Forget the credit, they (male actors) take all the money as well. We don’t get paid even one-third of what male actors get. It’s not so much about the money, but it’s about (being a) woman.”

20. And lastly, be your own person!

I am not a very easy person to be with, I am very stubborn. I have hang ups. I am not one of those people expected to do the expected. But at the same time I have always taken the responsibility of my actions.”

If you look closely, these are nothing short of life lessons wrapped in simple anecdotes by someone who had the courage to stand up for herself in this big bad world.

Kangana! Stay fabulous!

Taapsee Pannu encourages women to learn self-defence

Taapsee Pannu

Taapsee Pannu

Actress Taapsee Pannu, known for playing powerful characters in films like ‘Baby’, ‘Pink’ and in her forthcoming ‘Naam Shabana’, says women should take responsibility for their own safety and learn the act of self-defence.

The actress also features in Culture Machine’s latest video in the Unblushed series on Blush channel titled ‘Unblushed Taapsee| #HitBack’, where she talks about how it is important for girls to be unapologetic about how they dress up and the lifestyle they lead.

“It’s time for us to be responsible for our own safety and learn to protect ourselves. The video resonates with me and I am glad to be a part of something so powerful, something I hope every woman will understand and act upon,” Tapsee said in a statement.

She also believes that women possess great power in form of strength and vulnerability.

“Though we do not have as much muscle power as of a man, god has compensated that with our strong sixth sense. If you are facing physical abuse, instead of thinking like a victim, use your presence of mind to deal with the situation. That’s all that matter — power of mind, more than body,” Taapsee told IANS.

Taapsee started her career in 2010 with Telugu film “Jhummandi Naadam”, and then acted in various south Indian films. She made her debut in Bollywood with “Chashme Baddoor” in 2013. However, she was noticed for her action-packed performance in “Baby”, directed by Neeraj Pandey.

Her character in ‘Baby’ is what has resulted in its spin-off ‘Naam Shabana’, produced by Pandey and directed by Shivam Nair and releasing on March 31.

Taapsee says “the film could have been called ‘Naam Subham’ also”.
“I mean the film has got nothing to do with gender, because the girl Shabana was equally well trained that of a male spy,” she added.

Phillauri box office collection day 2: Anushka Sharma-Diljit Dosanjh starrer witnesses growth on its second day, earns Rs 9.22 crore

Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri has witnessed a growth of around 30 per cent on its second day, all thanks to the star power of Diljit Dosanjh in the North, mainly East Punjab and Delhi. The film has earned Rs 5.20 crore on its second day as compared to Rs 4.02 crore, the first day it earned. Talking about the film’s collection Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Phillauri is STRONG in North, the key contributor… Biz saw growth on Sat… Sun crucial… Fri 4.02 cr, Sat 5.20 cr. Total: ₹ 9.22 cr.” As we mentioned yesterday, the film is only performing in North and Anushka Sharma should thanks Diljit for that. Despite getting mixed to negative reviews, the film as performing on the levels of much bigger releases like Raees, Jolly LLB 2 and Badrinath Ki Dulhania.

The two day opening of the film is better than Anushka Sharma’s previous production NH10 but that film sailed through in the long run through strong word of mouth, which is not the case here. Phillauri is expected to show similar growth on Sunday and at the end it will all boil down to Monday. The film really has to show a strong hold once the weekend ends, if it hopes to do well in a long run.

BollywoodLife critic Sreeju Sudhakaran in his review had stated, “Phillauri has some spirited performance from its lead actors, unfortunately, the same spirit has not gone into the making of the movie. What’s started off as a promising film ends up as a boring and a tiresome hotchpotch by the end. Going by the nearly empty theatre hall where I watched the movie and the muted response the movie received at the end, I am sure #ShashiWasThere is actually scaring people away from the screens. Highly Avoidable!”
