Rhea Chakraborty: Nothing comes easy in the film industry; stakes are always high

Rhea Chakraborty

For Rhea Chakraborty, it’s not been an easy journey in showbiz. The actor, who shot to fame after her first Bollywood film, Mere Dad Ki Maruti (2013), went on to do Mohit Suri’s recent directorial Half-Girlfriend, as well.

Asked why she’s taking it so slow, Rhea says, “I think nothing is easy in this [film] industry. There are so many people who are trying their luck in films and only a few of those actors get to do films and choose to be an actor. The stakes are always high here. It’s hard in the sense that it’s very uncertain. There would be times when you will be getting work, but not the kind that you want to do.”

Rhea will also do a cameo in Dobaara, which also stars actors Saqib Saleem and Huma Qureshi in lead roles. While a lot of actors are sceptical about doing small roles during initial phase of their career, Rhea doesn’t believes in such ideas. “I don’t go by what you should do and what you should not do.

She feels that there is a stigma associated with what one must do before a film and what one should do after it is released. “For instance, if you do television, then you should not do films or vice versa. I think that thought process is changing and we as actors, especially the younger ones, should not follow that rule at all because everyone should do whatever they like. I am continuing to do lead roles and that is where I am actually headed, but doing cameos is also a fun experience,” adds Rhea.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge Movie Review

CAST: Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario
DIRECTION: Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg
GENRE: Action
DURATION: 2 hours 12 minutes

STORY: Henry Turner and Carina Smyth are looking for the Trident of Poseidon. Jack Sparrow could also use it to defeat the evil half-dead man hunting him down for revenge. So they join hands and set sail…

REVIEW: Time and tide wait for none. Not even for the likes of Johnny Depp and Javier Bardem, two supremely talented actors captaining this ambitious finale to the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise. As time runs out and tides become stronger, Bardem and Depp take turns at the wheel, and barely manage to bring the ship to shore.

The movie has the makings of an epic adventure. The VFX is stunning, the actors’ comic timing is impeccable, cinematographer Paul Cameron’s sweeping shots of cramped Caribbean towns and the vast nothingness of sea are impressive, and the pace keeps you hooked.

But Salazar’s Revenge is mainly held back by two common problems of the franchise. 1) The adventures lack the element of surprise; they’re more like road-trips with pre-determined pitstops now (a menacing villain, a curse here or there, a witch guiding the pirates, etc). And 2) The absolute irrelevance of Jack Sparrow to the main plot. Is there another movie that requires so little of its protagonist?

Even in Salazar’s Revenge, Sparrow (Depp) continues to be a charming, drunken pirate who waddles into a quest for the ultimate treasure. Henry’s (Thwaites) quest, to be precise. As Henry tries to find Poseidon’s Trident and free his father (Orlando Bloom in a cameo) from a curse, he runs into Carina (Scodelario), who is also after the Trident as a means to connect with her own estranged father. But the young adventurers need a ship and a captain to take them to the treasure. And that’s the bare minimum Sparrow can do. Sparrow, in turn, is running away from Salazar (Bardem), a half-dead-half-alive ghost-man thirsty for revenge.

The plot twists are too bizarre and yet not too unbelievable. The movie thrives on star-power, cameos and special effects. But the visual treat of a climax will pull the wool over your eyes, and you will buy into the fantasy.

Go on this final voyage. The seas might get a bit rough but the pirates won’t rob you off a good time.

Tiger Shroff shares his mantra for good health, glowing skin

Tiger Shroff

Actor Tiger Shroff, who has been chosen to play the lead role in the Bollywood remake of Rambo, follows three mantras to maintain his fit frame and glowing skin.

The actor, who started his Hindi film career with Heropanti and has come on board to endorse Garnier Men with Sushant Singh Rajput and John Abraham, believes staying healthy is a way of life.

To help his fans and followers lead a similar life, Tiger has spoken about his regime:

Regular workouts: Considering our hectic routine and demanding work pressure, it is crucial for everyone to conduct regular workout sessions. I make sure that I work out for at least two hours every day. In addition to an attractive physique, it largely helps improve blood circulation in the body and boosts positivity making you feel healthy and happy.

Eating healthy: To look good and fresh always, it is pertinent to eat healthy. If you are not following a good diet, then the workout you do is worthless. The food you eat should be high in proteins and vitamins for your body. I follow a balanced diet that includes a good mix of dry fruits, eggs, vegetables, sprouts, meat and fish. I also try and stay away from processed foods as much as possible. Additionally, I believe in the power of detox so I ensure that I consume green tea at least three, four times during the day.

Daily skin care regimen: While it is important to drink adequate amount of water and get proper sleep to look good, it is equally vital to address external factors that tend to take a toll on your skin. In my profession where I have to perform my own stunts, dance in the blazing sun and fight villains in outdoor locations, I still need to look good and fresh at all times.

Therefore, I make sure I use products that take care of my skin’s needs without much hassle. My personal favourite is the Garnier facewash which has Matcha green tea as it not only helps to cleanse my face but also detoxifies it from dirt and impurities. I just have to use it twice a day and it guarantees me clean and purified skin, making it easy for me to carry out my active lifestyle, without a worry.

Kriti Sanon opens up about her alleged affair with Raabta co-star Sushant Singh Rajput

As soon as Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon were spotted taking a short car drive in Mumbai, rumours of their alleged affair began to fly fast and loose. Sushant and Kriti never made an effort to clear these reports. The Raabta stars have so far maintained a very nonchalant air to the whirlwind of such things. In a recent interview, Sushant shrugged off all the rumours saying that he is not bothered by this swirl of stories about him. “These stories could be more interesting. They tend to get repetitive, not only with regards to Kriti, my other relationships, but also other stuff – that fans tried to meet me and something happened. These are very old stories,” Sushant told PTI.

Taking a cue from her Raabta co-star Sushant, Kriti Sanon in an interview said something on the similar lines. The actor’s reply on her alleged relationship with Sushant was surprisingly cool and calm. “Every other day, I read about how I have opened up about this affair or how Sushant has opened up about it. I don’t know how many times we have supposedly opened up about it. There are so many fictional stories going around… in fact, one even suggested that I was holidaying with him in Bangkok when I was actually sitting with my sister and sipping chai. Now, we just laugh it off. Being spotted on a drive with Sushant or watching a movie with him means nothing …what’s the big deal?” Kriti told Bombay Times.

Well, whatever these two stars have to say about each other, their on-screen chemistry has been the talk of the town for quite some time. Sushant and Kriti recently shot for a magazine cover and their dripping chemistry was adored by their fans on social media.

Raabta a copy of Magadheera? Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon respond

Raabta, Magadheera

On April 17, when Dinesh Vijan unveiled the trailer of his directorial debut Raabta, netizens couldn’t stop talking about it. While some gushed about  the crackling chemistry between the lead pair Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon, and the interesting twist in the trailer, others pointed out the striking similarity it bore to the 2009 Telegu reincarnation drama, Maghadheera, directed by SS Rajamouli.

Over a month later, the makers of the Ram Charan and Kajal Aggarwal-starrer, Geetha Arts, have decided to take legal action against the producers, Maddock Films and T-Series. Allu Arvind, on behalf of the production house, released a statement on Thursday, confirming that they have approached the Hyderabad court, seeking an injunction against the film’s release over copyright issues.

It also stated that “the Hyderabad court issued notice to Raabta producers and posted the matter for 1st June to decide if Raabta should be permitted to release on June 9.”

When asked about the plagarism charges against their film, at the star-studded premiere of Sachin: A Billion Dreams, Sushant Singh Rajput looked visibly agitated. He snapped back, “If you read up any book on screenplay, the most basic book, the first chapter of that book tells you that there are only eight different stories that you can tell, so every story is from those stories. It’s as simple as that.”

Kriti Sanon, his co-star, nudged him and was quick to salvage the situation. She said, “I want to say that I have seen the film that you are talking about (Maghadheera) and I have read the Raabta script. I know the film inside out and it is in no way similar. The characters, the narrative…everything from scratch is different.”

Before walking away in a huff, Sushant concluded, “And whoever you are talking about, whoever has a problem or sees a similarity can watch our film and they will get to know!”
