Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli looking for a December wedding?

Bollywood star Anushka Sharma is all set to become the first lady of Indian cricket soon. According to sources, Indian skipper Virat Kohli will tie the knot with Anushka in December this year. Though the dates are yet to be finalised. DNA has learnt that Kohli apparently told selectors that he would be missing one of the three Tests and the One-day series to be played against Sri Lanka in December because of “personal reasons”.

Though, the chairman of selection committee MSK Prasad insisted that Kohli will be part of the entire Test series, this led to speculations about India captain’s marriage plans. Kohli and Sharma have been dating for at least a couple of years now and she even accompanied the cricketer during India’s tour of England in 2013, which created a lot of controversy as Kohli’s form hit a downward curve.

Then there came the rumours of their break-up in 2015 but Kohli came out in support of Sharma when fans blamed her for his poor form. The couple recently recently featured in an advertisement which went viral. The commercial for an ethnic clothing brand shows the couple exchanging wedding vows inadvertently.

The year 2017 has been exceptional for the Delhi-based cricketer, scoring record runs and guiding India to six series’ victories against top teams at home.

A player from Delhi dressing room known to be close to Kohli said, “December seems to be logical as after that Indian team will be travelling overseas for quite some time. As far as I know, Virat would not like to miss any of such important games.”

However, the player denied having knowledge of Kohli’s wedding plans. “I’m awaiting this good news like all of his fans,” added the veteran Delhi player.

Anushka Sharma enjoys characters that challenge her philosophy

As an actress, Anushka Sharma, who essays a Gujarati girl in ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’, says she enjoys playing a character that has different beliefs from her own.

She says essaying such a character gives her a creative high and adds to her perspective.

Asked if the process of convincing oneself to believe in a character that one has to play on screen gives her creative growth, Anushka told IANS here: “Yes, it does. I enjoy when my philosophy is challenged by my onscreen character. Then I start analysing the mindset, the values and beliefs of the character… why is she like that.

“I start looking at things from a different perspective. As an actress, if I manage to do that on screen convincingly, I feel good.”

The story of ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’, which features superstar Shah Rukh Khan as Harry — the male lead, revolves around how Sejal (Anushka) sets out on a journey with tourist guide Harry.

Giving a little insight into her character Sejal, Anushka said: “She is very superficial, doesn`t have any depth as a person. There is no similarity with me. But her morals and values of self-respect are something that I can relate to. But otherwise, the character is quite impulsive by nature.”

The shooting of the film took place in different places like Prague, Amsterdam, Vienna, Lisbon and Budapest.

Sharing her experience of shooting films abroad, Anushka said meeting fans there is one of the best things to experience.

“I met some African fans, people from Italy and a girl from Spain who was so excited to see me and was talking about how she liked my films, dance and all… It is not individually about me, but knowing the fact that they watch Bollywood cinema and I am one of the members of Bollywood is a great feeling,” said Anushka.

‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ marks the third-time collaboration of the two actors who first appeared together in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’. They also featured in ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’.

“There is a certain respect and comfort we share… He is special. While on set, even though we are not talking to each other all the time, we know there is no communication gap. There is comfort in silence. Perhaps that comes from a mutual respect between two artists.”

And what has she taken away from working with Imtiaz Ali, who has directed the forthcoming film.

“Our process of understanding and building a character is same — knowing the back story of the character. That apart, yes, of course, it was wonderful to work with Imtiaz. His writing and narration are very nuanced and I like that,” Anushka said.

‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ is set to release on August 4.

Jab Harry Met Sejal movie review: Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s chemistry does full justice to Imtiaz Ali’s poetic vision

Are you wondering if Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s Euro trip (Jab Harry Met Sejal) is worth taking? Has Imtiaz Ali managed to reinvent Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s chemistry and stoke fire into it? And is this movie worth your money? Well, Jab Harry Met Sejal has hit the screens and here’s our review of the film…

What’s it about

Jab Harry Met Sejal makes a reference to poet Rumi’s quote, ‘What you seek is seeking you.’ The story of the film is as simple as this quote – two strangers, struggling to fill their lives with love, find each other and realise their bond, and their togetherness fills the missing pieces of the jigsaw of their life. Shah Rukh Khan plays the cocky, self-absorbed, womanising Harry, a tour guide who resorts to quickies and one-night stands to compensate for the lack of real love, while Anushka Sharma plays Sejal, a Gujarati girl who loses her engagement ring during a tour ride across Europe and hopes that Harry will be her accomplice in finding that ring back. The film is basic and devoid of any gimmicks or baggage. Imtiaz manages to keep the focus on Harry and Sejal from the first frame till the last, investing in their emotions and making their journey utterly relatable. As audience, you not only buy this idea of going on this unpredictable journey with Harry and Sejal but actually empathise and feel the connect with their situations. Sejal’s predicament of not trusting Harry initially and his change of heart towards her are not just twists in the plot but complex character traits that Imtiaz sketches on his creative canvas. The climax and culmination of this journey might be predictable, but the ride along the way is worth every penny.

What’s hot

Shah Rukh Khan is the epitome of romance. He’s made a career out of selling the notion of everlasting love, love that transcends age and every possible barrier, love that is pure and innocent. In Jab Harry Met Sejal, SRK reinvents himself in a way that will blow your mind away. It isn’t just about the stubble, or his gaze, the way he looks at Anushka or that intensity when his eyes become moist, he’s done all this and much more on the big screen. But one can tell that there has been some sort of a shift within him where he’s managed to tap into places that none of his previous directors (Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, Yash Chopra) believed existed. Imtiaz Ali’s vision and SRK’s passion for romance is truly a lethal combination that lights up every single frame of the film. As a performance, JHMS is perhaps his most intense yet easy role in recent times. He’s stripped himself from any label, bracket or expectation, surrendering to his director with utmost sincerity.

Anushka Sharma hits the ball out of the park as Sejal. The trails and teasers did no justice to what a powerhouse performer she is in the film. It was a tricky role to play a Gujarati girl with inhibitions and apprehensions, but instead of cowering under the weight of its complexities, Anushka soars and delivers with the finest grace. Her mannerisms, accent, and even the way she bites her lips and quivers – everything is on point. Despite doing two films together (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Jab Tak Hai Jaan) there is a strange freshness to Shah Rukh and Anushka’s pairing in this film. There are scenes where these two create beautiful moments with just conversations and a stare, no theatrics or dramatics needed. Imtiaz’s idea of romance is timeless and classic and his lead stars do full justice to this notion.

What’s not

The pace does slacken in the second half and a couple of scenes that involve some immigrant goons and their involvement with finding Sejal’s ring, fall flat. Also a Punjabi track, that involves an engagement, felt forced and unnecessary. From this point onward the graph of the film goes downhill. Harry’s flashbacks to Punjab and his backstory deserved a better explanation. The music of the film is good, but only a few tracks, namely ‘Radha‘ and ‘Hawayein,‘ manage to stay.

What to do

Jab Harry Met Sejal is all heart and deserves a watch for Shah Rukh and Anushka‘s crackling chemistry that takes the film to another level. Imtiaz Ali’s this journey is definitely worth the price of your ticket.

“Male Actors Are Better Valued Than Us In Hindi Cinema” – Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma is one of the most successful actresses in Bollywood today. She is talented and can be counted upon to deliver a good movie & a powerful performance. Her last few films, specially Phillauri NH10 have been rather different, which proved that Anushka can single-handedly carry a film on her shoulders.

The rampant gender divide in the film industry, however, has not escaped Anushka’s notice. In a recent interview with Mid-Day, she said:

Films led by female actors do not open to remarkable numbers. A lot of us are trying to change that with the kind of work we do. Who said that the industry was fair? Talking of the gender divide won’t make it go away. Male actors are better valued than us in Hindi cinema. As an actor, what I can do is choose roles that send out a message [of empowerment, both as actor and the character]. As producer, I am trying to foster a new value system that makes content king in the long run.”

That is true! Look at NH10 for example, Anushka produced and acted in the film, and it was a critical success. It may not have entered the 100 crore league, but the film did good business.

She also spoke about the films that do not fare that well at the Box Office, Bombay Velvet, for example. The onus of carrying a film lies on the lead character’s shoulders, she feels. Therefore, Ranbir Kapoor was targeted when Bombay Velvet did not perform too well. Anushka told Mid-Day:

What happened to him (Ranbir) was unfair. He is one of the best actors we have today. But it’s also because Bombay Velvet was Johnny’s film more than Rosie’s (Anushka’s character in the film). I would have been held solely responsible if NH10 had flopped, not because I produced it, but because the film was riding on my shoulders. But, he continues to be targeted also because of other films he did that didn’t fare well. I was relatively less affected because I had successful films before and after Bombay Velvet.”

Anushka Sharma on Bollywood’s nepotism debate: Everyone’s experiences are different, we all have to respect and value that

Every day is a different day and when it comes to the tinsel town, things move on fast. But looks like the nepotism debate just doesn’t seem to fizzle down anytime sooner. After Jab Harry Met Sejal trailer launch today, during a media interaction, director Imtiaz Ali and actor Anushka Sharma were asked to comment on the resurfaced nepotism controversy, and how they feel since both of them are ‘outsiders’ too.

To this, Imtiaz Ali said, “All three of us (Imtiaz Ali himself, Anushka Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan) here are ‘outsiders’, so if there was any ‘bhai-bhatijabaaz’ (nepotism) against us then we wouldn’t be here at all! I can say this quite confidently about myself that I am here because of all the love and affection of the existing film industry, at that time. To me this is the only place I belong. I don’t see it (nepotism), I don’t know about Anushka.”

Anushka too spoke on this, and maintained that different people have different experiences in the industry, and that she hasn’t really faced any difference because she is not from the industry. She said, “Like what he (Imtiaz Ali) said, we are here, and have reached where we are, within the industry. I personally was launched by the Yash Raj banner, and they’ve recognised talent before anything else. This (nepotism) was not even something I thought of when I came in the industry. But everybody’s experiences are different, and we all have to respect and value that.”

When the scribe asked if bullying on stage (in reference to Karan Johar, Saif Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan’s ‘Nepotism Rocks!’ comment) is right, to which Imtiaz Ali said that if it has happened, then it is wrong.

Announcement! Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan to star in Yash Raj’s Sui Dhaaga – Made In India

Wait, what just happened? Perhaps the coolest project announcement! Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan are coming together for Yash Raj’s upcoming movie, Sui Dhaaga – Made In India. Are you all shocked? Well, so are we. It was so out of the blue that it actually took us a few seconds to sink in the news. However, now that we’re accustomed with the idea of this new jodi, we are super pumped up! Can you imagine? Varun and Anushka in a hatke movie? Well, we certainly took time to digest this news but it’s quite a big deal. The duo have NEVER worked together and hence, it would be interesting to see what this new pair from Yash Raj brings us. the film’s script has been written by Sharat Katariya of Dum Laga Ke Haisha and will be produced by Maneesh Sharma. We have to admit though, their way of breaking the news was very quirky and kickass. When they started exchanging cryptic tweets on Twitter, we thought perhaps it might have something to do with Jab Harry Met Sejal’s song, Beech Beech Mein.

But man oh man, were we in for a surprise. They subtly announced their next project! It started with Anushka writing a riddle on her Twitter, “आगे आगे मौजी भैया, पीछे पीछे पूँछ,बढ़ते जाएँ मौजी भैया, घटती जाए पूँछ।बोलो क्या? @Varun_dvn” Well, what can you infer out of this? But Varun gave an ultimatum that at 12, he’ll come back with an answer, “बहुत मुश्किल पहेली है – हेल्पलाइन लगेगी। आज रात 12 बजे बताता हूँ।@AnushkaSharma” Which he did as he tweeted, “सुई धागा। is the answer anushkaaaa @AnushkaSharma. I know this answer is extremely special to you.” The diva confirmed the title and replied, “सौ बटे सौ! चलो अब पिक्चर बनाते हैं साथ में – मज़ा आएगा 🙂 @SuiDhaagaFilm @yrf” well, there you go, the name of their upcoming next! Varun then signed off by stating, “आप से सौ अंक प्राप्त करने कि खुशी में मैं अब सोने जा रहा हूँ आप के साथ एक फिल्म बनाना मजेदार होगा Anushka @SuiDhaagaFilm @yrf”

Hope we don’t have to break down the riddle to you. It’s pretty evident now that the answer is out in the open! According to a report on Hindustan Times, Varun has been quoted saying, “From Gandhiji (Mahatma Gandhi) to Modiji (Prime Minister Narendra Modi), our country’s leaders have always endorsed the ideology of ‘Made in India’. With our film, I am proud to take their message to millions of people in a relevant manner.” On the same, even Anushka commented, “It’s a story of self-reliance that I believe will connect with every Indian. And I am really looking forward to work with Varun and the team of Maneesh and Sharat.” Sui Dhaaga is set to go on floors in January 2018 and will have a Gandhi Jayanti release on the same year! How cool is that?

After Kangana Ranaut, Anushka Sharma Talks About Nepotism In Bollywood

Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma

Kangana Ranaut‘s now infamous appearance on Koffee With Karan was like opening a bag of worms. Ever since she spoke blatantly about nepotism in Bollywood and accused Karan Johar of the same, it has become something that everybody is talking about, because let’s face it, we all know it exists. Anushka Sharma was at the press conference for Phillauri yesterday and was asked by Indian Express if she had to deal with nepotism. Here’s what she said.

We all have different journeys and different experiences and I am sure the actors sitting next to me on the stage will agree on this part. Aditya Chopra gave me my launchpad. Yes, I am an outsider and he launched me in a big film. Similarly, he has launched Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra and we three are completely from a non-filmy background. Going by my experience, I have a lot of respect for Aditya Chopra because he gave a platform to the actors and I have personally never experienced it [nepotism]. For me, things changed after Band Baaja Baaraat and then people started taking me seriously and that film literally changed my life.”

She makes a lot of sense.

Actress Anushka Sharma on Wednesday said that she never faced nepotism in her decade-long career in Bollywood despite being an outsider. Actress Kangana Ranaut had called filmmaker Karan Johar the “flag bearer of nepotism” on his talk show, leading to a war of words between the director and the actress. Anushka, who made her acting debut in 2008 with Aditya Chopra’s “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”, said she got a chance to make it big in the industry without a godfather.”The production house which launched me, I can’t talk like that about them because they gave an outsider like me a chance,” Anushka said in an interview here.

The actress said Yash Raj Films could have easily taken an industry kid on board but they have given a chance to many outsiders.”They did have an option to take any industry kid at that time but Aditya Chopra put faith in me. I can talk about my experience and I’ve never faced nepotism in any way. Whether this happens or not, everybody has their own experiences. May be it happens but I can never say this about Aditya.”He has launched all the outsiders. Me, Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra. Except for Arjun (Kapoor), all the Yash Raj talent are outsiders.”

The 28-year-old actress is currently gearing up for her upcoming production “Phillauri“, in which she stars opposite Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh. The romantic-drama chronicles the story of a young man (Suraj Sharma) who meets a friendly spirit (Anushka) after he reluctantly marries a tree to ward off any threats to his love life. The film is scheduled to release on March 24.

Are These Leading Ladies Coming Together On Koffee With Karan?

Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma

Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma

Trust Karan Johar to bring the best faces from Bollywood together on his show, Koffee With Karan. After Ranbir Kapoor & Ranveer Singh‘s fabulous episode and Mira Rajput & ShahidKapoor‘s fun banter, we may get to see 2 leading actresses from Bollywood together on the couch.

As per a report in BL, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma are all set to be guests on the show. The two actresses reportedly bonded well during the making of Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Now we all remember the explosive Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor episode. It’s definitely time we get another episode that is high on female energy. *wink*

Earlier, reports suggested that Katrina will appear on the show with Salman Khan, but that turned out to be false as the latter came with his brothers. Later, it came to our knowledge that she will be seen on the show with her Bang Bang co-actor, Hrithik Roshan. As for Anushka, she reportedly refused to be on the chat show, in order to avoid any discussion on her personal life.

Well, I guess we will have to wait slightly longer to find out the truth. But as long as these beautiful ladies come on the show, we don’t mind waiting!
